Judging others

The last few days have seen two men charged with crimes against children in our community.  There are those who have been spewing hatred towards these men, many of whom do not personally know them.  I would like to take a moment and say a few things.

First of all, while crimes against children really anger me, I prefer to know the facts.  We only know what the media is telling us.  They are not given all the facts, as the DA does not want the jury pool to be contaminated.  I do not know the facts in this case.

Secondly, I have not spoken with either man, but I would like to share a few things from scripture.  Now, before I do, if you don’t want to hear it or have anything negative to say about scripture being used in this post, please feel free to move on, but do not be disrespectful of me or my beliefs.  I am not writing this post to stir up a debate, just adding my thoughts on my wall for my friends.

In Matthew 7:1-2 it says “Judge not, or you too will be judged.  For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”  (NIV)  In John 8:1-11, the Pharisees brought a woman who was caught in adultery before Jesus.  In verse 7 it says “…Let any of you who are without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”  (NIV)  For a little background if you do not know, in those days if a woman was caught in adultery she would be stoned publically.

How I see these passages is if I am judging someone based on what a news report says about them or what another person says about them, then, I will be judged the same way.  Christ taught that we should not judge others.  That is not our place.  I know I have things in my past that I am not proud of, and I cannot judge another because I am not without guilt myself in many things.  He taught that we should love others as ourselves (Mark 12:31).  I have been taught to love the person, but not the sin.  Society does not show love for those who have done wrong.  All they see is what the person has done and nothing else.  I say we also look at the person.  Now, I am not naive enough to think that every person is a good person.  There are those that are truly evil and there is a place for them, but that is not my job to judge them.  I do believe, however, that some people have no choice in committing certain crimes, but that is not to say that they are a bad person.  I am talking about those who steal food or items needed so that they can survive.  Circumstances in their lives, some way beyond their control, have placed them in the situation.

Society today has gone so far from where we were 30-40 years ago.  Today we have people who tell us if we do not agree with someone else’s opinion, then it is okay to belittle them and assault them.  If we all believed the same, what a boring world this would be.  Gone are the days when people could sit and discuss the issues without name-calling and threats being made.  Gone are the days when people acted like adults and agreed to disagree and moved on with their lives and being friends still.  Parents have allowed the government to tell them what their children should learn and they have allowed the government to tell them that they cannot discipline their children for being disrespectful and disobedient.  When the Bible was taken out of the schools and disciplines too, that was when the decline of respect began.  I was spanked and had other disciplines growing up and it did not scar me.  It made me a better person.  I knew what was right and wrong and if I crossed the line, I knew what would happen.  Kids today have NO respect for authority today and that goes for some adults as well.

What do these thoughts have to do with the issue at hand you may ask?  Well, everything!  Think about it.  Why did the child leave their parents?  Was there abuse at home?  Who filed the initial charges or made the allegations?  Was it the child or their parents?  I do not know.  Do you?  I have seen so many people wrongly accused of crimes in my life that I am getting hesitant to judge based on news reports or what others are saying.  If these charges are found to be false, how are these two men going to regain their lives back?  Their dignity?  Their respect in the community?  Main Street media does not care about that.  All they care about is ratings, not getting their facts right or complete before publishing it.

Please, before you share things like what has been shared already, think about how this reflects on you.  Yes, I am speaking to the choir here.  I know I have been wrong to share some things, but I too am learning to temper what I share.  Please forgive me for sharing things in the past that are not becoming the Child of God I want am.  Any of us, especially those who work with kids, could have this happen to them.  Only one small misstep, one wrong word at the wrong time, one misinterpreted touch, could ruin anyone, at any time.

God Bless everyone today.

Where do you stand?

Tomorrow, for those of us who have not voted yet, we will head to our local polling place to vote for the next President of the United States, and many other positions.  While I have posted many things on Facebook, I mostly have not commented on what I had posted so that others would read and make up their own minds about what they were reading.  In recent days though, I have found myself not wanting to be on Facebook much because of all the hate that is on there.  This country was built on the backs of many, diverse, peoples, with many different perspectives and opinions.  Back then, people discussed their differences in adult fashion, with respect for each other and a willingness to hear the other side.  That is not true today.  Today people are disrespectful of each other.  If someone does not agree with them, they are evil.  While I do not agree with what Hillary Clinton stands for, those that do, are human too.  They have made their decision regarding her.  Does that make them a bad person?  No.  Moreover, I will not lower myself to call them names.  We each will have to answer for our actions some day and it is NOT my job to judge them.  That is God’s job.  He alone is the one who will judge them in the end.  My job, and everyone else’s for that matter, is to love them.  It hurts me to see families divided by this election.  After God and Country, Family is important.  Being divided because of an election, which is only around for a short time, although the results are around for 4 years, is wrong.  Who will be there for you when this is over?  Will Hillary be there to help you out of a mess?  Will she be there to hold your hand when you lose a loved one or are sick?  Will Donald Trump be there for you?  No.  Your family will be.  Instead of dividing the family, agree to disagree and do not discuss it again.  Think about those who have no family.  Do you think that they would not love the chance to have a family member with them?  Are you sure you are even correct in your thinking?

For a long time now, I have kept silent, but I cannot any longer.  As most of you know, my father was in the Army and fought in WWII and Korea.  He fought for the freedoms that we all enjoy and the current administration is seeking to strip those freedoms away from us.  If you have not seen the movies God’s Not Dead and God’s Not Dead 2, please do.  We hear so often the phrase of “separation of church and state”, but do you really know what that means?  It means that the state cannot tell you what religion you have to practice.  It does not mean that religion cannot be discussed in schools, as all other religions are being taught in schools today, so must the Judeo-Christian religion.  That phrase is not even in the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, or any document written by the Founding Fathers.  It was in a letter.  I will not go into all of it in this post, but here is a link to an article that fully explains it:  http://www.forbes.com/sites/billflax/2011/07/09/the-true-meaning-of-separation-of-church-and-state/#156931af6e59.

As a born again Believer, I believe that God established this country and He has Blessed us richly, because we have honored Him and followed His commands, until the last few decades.  We have gotten away from the ideals that this great country was founded on and we are now seeing the results of this.  Abortions, pornography, murders, rapes, stealing, arrogance, lack of control over our desires, etc. are all the results of removing God from His rightful place in this country.  If we had stayed the course and followed the example of our ancestors, we would not be in the predicament we are today.  However, we did not.  We allowed a small minority of the total population tell us that we cannot have God in public.  We are being told now by Hillary that we need to denounce our beliefs, which I will not do.  I am adopted.  I thank God every day that my birth mom did not abort me.  She could have, very easily, but she did not.  She valued my life.  When I think about all the babies that are being aborted, my heartbreaks.  Who knows who would have been the one to find a cure for Cancer or Alzheimer’s or any of the diseases that are now running wild all around the world?  We will never know, although God will raise up someone to take their place because we killed them before they were born.  There is an easy solution to some of the unwanted babies being conceived.  Keep your pants on!  This is for both males and females!  Our children need to be taught to respect their bodies and to wait to have sex until they are married.  Children today are handled with kid gloves and not allowed to think for themselves or to have to deal with painful things.  We need “safe zones” for them.  This is one of the many things wrong with society today.  We are harsher with the victims of crime than we are on the criminal.  Criminals can get an education while in prison, they get to watch TV, workout and be lazy.  This is wrong.  They broke the law.  They deserve a real punishment.  Am I advocating that prisoners be put on “chain gangs”?  Yes!  Make them do hard labor.  Enforce the current laws on the books.  We do not need more laws.  We need enforcement of the laws for EVERYONE.  Yes, especially the politicians that think they are above the law.  We need to make the penalty for breaking the law to look ugly, not appealing.

God has impressed one verse to me all morning.  It comes from the Old Testament, II Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”  (NIV)  Other verses that are along the same lines:  James 4:10 “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.”  Deuteronomy 28:10 “So all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they will be afraid of you.”  Psalm 60:2 “You have made the land quake, You have split it open; Heal its breaches, for it totters.”  (NIV)  The Bible contains many verses that say if we humble ourselves to the Lord, He will bless us.  The United States of America can be a great nation again.  We need to turn back to the foundational ideals of this country.  We need to remember why the Pilgrims came here in the first place, to get away from Religious Persecution.  As the saying goes:  If we don’t learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.  We are repeating the history of persecuting Christians for their beliefs.  While I don’t agree with all the religions and cults that there are here in the United States, I will defend to the death, their right to practice it.  However, we should not just blindly let people into the United States without vetting them.  If they cannot be vetted, the do not come in.  The safety of the citizens of this country should be the number one priority of our government.  Next, should be that our own people are fed and have shelter before any other money spent on feeding or building shelters in foreign countries.  Does that mean that I do not have a heart for those people who are starving and have no shelter?  No, it means we need to take care of our own first.  If we cannot take care of our own, some of whom have fought for this country, we are no better than those countries that we send aid to.

As we prepare to vote in this historic election this year, let us seek the face of the Lord.  No person should sit at home and not vote.  If you do not vote, then you really have no right to complain about the outcome.  If you do not like any of the candidates, think about who will be appointing the next five Supreme Court Justices, who aligns more with your ideals and morals.  No man or woman is perfect.  They all have issues, but they can also be changed by the power of the Lord.  Today and tomorrow, I will be devoting much time to prayer and worship.  Many others and I will be praying for the elections, our government officials, our military, and many other issues as we feel led.

Today, maybe you can ask yourself these questions:  Where do you stand?  Are you for or against Christ?  Are you for or against little babies killed before they take their first breath so that people can make money off their body parts?  Will you stand up and be counted with Christ?  Will you have the courage of your convictions to vote for the person(s) God is telling you to vote for?  Can I live with myself if I stand by and do nothing while the criminals get away with murder and rewarded for it?  Am I for or against our military?

I realize there will be people who are offended by this.  That is to be expected; however, I respectfully request that if I have offended you, to please be respectful in your comments.  This post is what the Lord has impressed on me to write.

When Life Just Doesn’t Seem Fair

You look around and there are many people who have what you want, but are unable to achieve and you wonder why you can’t have it.  Ever feel like that?  I do.  A lot!

One year and a month ago today I was let go from my job at PMCS-ICAP.  Still no job and a few less friends since then.  I’ve learned a lot this year.  I’ve learned people are not to be trusted to keep their word.  I’ve learned that God has everything in control and I just need to lean on Him for everything.  I have found a great Church family who loves me as I am.  They want the best for me and don’t try to make me be who they think I should be.  For years I listened to those who would only accept me if I changed to be who they wanted me to be.  No more.  God made me who I am today, through all the ups and downs in my life, He molded me to be who He created me to be.  Do I still have room for improvement?  Sure.  I’m working on that.  However, no one has the right to tell me that I have to become someone else or tell anyone they should change from who they are.  When a child is constantly compared to someone else, their spirit is crushed and they begin to feel that they just don’t measure up.  In today’s society, little girls are told that if they aren’t skinny, have beautiful hair, teeth or smile they aren’t good enough.  Other girls and sometime boys bully them.  Adults see and hear about it and most don’t do anything about it.  This needs to stop.  There have been too many kids who have committed suicide because of bullies.

So, while I am still under construction by God, I will mess up.  I will stumble and fall.  I will keep going on as that is whom I am.  I want to be who God wants me to be, not whom someone else says I should be.  I will continue to be friendly and giving, though now I am very careful whom I give to.  I am tired of the narcissists in today’s society who think nothing of taking from others and then treating them like manure.  My love and time are more important to me to waste on people who don’t appreciate it.  I will continue to pray for them, but will have nothing to do with them.  These are the people who have drained me and made me doubt God’s love for me.  I feel sorry for them as they repel those who would love them and be close to them.  I really feel sorry for their kids if they have any because the kids will have a tainted view of what life is about, unless they have someone who is stable and full of God to come along side and guide them to God’s love and will for their life.  Many tears have been shed over what the kids have had to endure at the hands of the narcissists of this world.  What is more sickening is when the narcissist says they are a godly person and then continually manipulate situations and ruin other relationships with those manipulations and disregard God’s word and outright lie about things so that they can have what they want and injure the psyche and spirit of children that are around them.  My prayer for these types of people is that God will get a hold of them and show them what they have done and lead them to where they can admit to themselves that they need help.

A poem that has helped me through some of the darkest times for me is below.  Hope you all enjoy it and that it will help you as much as it has helped me.

In Hours of Discouragement, God Is Our Encouragement
Helen Steiner Rice

Sometimes we feel uncertain
and unsure of everything—
Afraid to make decisions,
dreading what the day will bring.
We keep wishing it were possible
to dispel all fear and doubt
And to understand more readily
just what life is all about.
God has given us answers,
which too often go unheeded,
But if we search His promises
we’ll find everything that’s needed
To lift our faltering spirits
and renew our courage, too,
For there’s absolutely nothing
too much for God to do…
For the Lord is our salvation
and our strength in every fight,
Our redeemer and protector,
our eternal guiding light.
He has promised to sustain us,
He’s our refuge from all harms,
And underneath this refuge
are the everlasting arms…
So cast your burden on Him,
seek His counsel when distressed,
And go to Him for comfort
when you’re lonely and oppressed…
For in God is our encouragement
in trouble and in trials,
And in suffering and in sorrow
He will turn our tears to smiles.

Turn on the news and there is heartbreaking news everywhere.  From the shootings in Dallas to the terrorist attack in Nice, France and everywhere in between.  What has our world become?

Children being killed by those who are supposed to love them.  People attacked randomly on the streets.  Black Lives Matter spewing hate and our government inciting the violence with their rhetoric and political agenda.  When will it all end?

When did it become okay to break the law, be caught, and not have to pay the penalty?  Our government is full of corruption from the top down.  The expenses incurred by the current administration for personal vacations are astronomical.  They are wasting OUR hard-earned money for their pleasure and all they show the American citizens is contempt.  This was very evident by the photos and video taken at the memorial service for the Dallas police officers who were murdered last week.  Yes, murdered.  The liberal media will not say it, but I will.  They were targeted by the shooter, that makes it murder.  Our current President and First Lady seemed bored and angry at having to be there and then the speech by the President was not appropriate for the situation.  Now compare them to Former President George W. Bush and Former First Lady Laura Bush.  You could tell the pain they were feeling for the families and country by the expressions on their faces and body language.  You could also hear it in the speech that President Bush gave.  What a contrast.

We need change.  We need people in government who love this country, who support our military and who will protect its citizens from outside threats.  I am not going to get into the political issues, but I will say we all need to get out and vote.  This is the most important vote we have faced in a very long time.  This country needs you to vote your conscience.  This country needs you to pray for change.  This country needs God to be allowed back into the schools.  In the courts.  In Washington.  Everywhere in this once great nation.  When God was taken out of the schools, our nation started to decline.

Now, imagine the pain God is feeling over what is going on.  Can you?  I know I cannot.  He created us to love one another.  Not to fight amongst ourselves like we are.  Was he caught off guard by what is going on in the world today?  No, He knew.  Could He have stopped it?  Sure, He could have, but we as humans have Free Will and it was/is our choices that have brought about the events that we are seeing today.  Whether the choices and/or decisions are our personal choices and/or decisions or choices and/or decisions made by others, they shape our world around us.  As a born again Christian I know He is grieved by what is going on.  I also know He has a plan for each of us and He guides us along our personal journeys when we allow Him to.  When He sent His son to Earth to die for us, He didn’t send him to save just the white, or the just the blacks, or just the Jews, or the Americans.  He sent him to die for ALL of us!  He created us EQUAL.

To those so called Reverend’s that are stirring the pot with the Black community, I call them phony’s.  How can they say they are a Reverend of the Lord Jesus Christ and yet stir up dissention amongst the different races?  The Lord calls them hypocrites and wolves in sheep’s clothing.  While I cannot and will not judge their hearts, there is only one person who can do that.  That is God, which He will do on judgement day.  On that day, their life will be shown and only what they have done for Christ will stand.  However, in order for them to enter Heaven, they will have to had asked Christ into their hearts, asked Him to forgive them their sins and turned away from those sins.  That is the only way into Heaven.  Don’t believe me?  Check it out in God’s Word!  (Ephesian 2:8-9, Titus 3:4-5, Titus 2:11-12, Romans 6:15, Ephesians 2:10, Matthew 16:24)  Matthew 25:31-46 and Revelation Chapters 17-22 discuss what happens in the end before Eternity, the judgement seat and where people go who fool themselves that they are Christians by their works.

There is a new awakening coming.  The Lord is raising up His people across this nation and across the world.  Will you be one of them that will stand up and be counted with Christ?  I know I will be!!
